Reading room

Some people call it a Library...Some people call it a Reading room. Back when I was in my college years, i sued to spend time in the library during the exam period. I like going there but since I graduate, I haven't been able to visit a library. There are times when I really want to just sit alone in the library reading my favorite books. I don't know why but I can always feel very comfortable reading in the library. People in the library are always busy with their own reading and learning. And so do I, it feels like the library belongs to me=) I still have a wish to have my own library or reading room someday when I have my own house. Doesn't have to big and beautiful like the pictures below, small, warm and comfortable will be the perfect spot. Here are six of the most beautiful libraries in the world. At first, library was made to store archives. My favorite is the one in St. Gallen, Switzerland.
Books, I found, had the power to make time stand still, retreat or fly into the future.
-Jim Bishop, A Bishop's Confession, 1981
Riksdagen Library, Swedish Parliament Library, Stockholm, Sweden
Old British Reading Room, British Museum, London, England

Library of the Benedictine Monastery of Admont, Austria
Wiblingen Monastary Library, Ulm, Germany

George Peabody Library, Baltimore, Maryland, USA

Abbey Library St. Gallen, Switzerland
An ordinary man can surround himself with two thousand books and thenceforward have at least one place in the world in which it is possible to be happy. -Augustine Birrell

  1. Such beautiful libraries! Mo'ikeha just posted about how he loves the smell of books. I love how old libraries have that bookish scent to them!

  3. I think we're lucky that we appreciate the experience of reading a good book. I love making my surroundings appropriate too. I sometimes read by candlelight when I'm on the last few chapters of a mystery novel, just to get that added ambiance!

  4. I would love my own library in my own house one day. I would love to be able to say, "and this is the library..." I would say it so proud. Haha I can't remember the last time I was in an actual library but I am often in a book store. My friend Yessi and I lose ourselves in a book store. We don't even stay together, we go off like into our own worlds. I never walk out without buying at least one book.

  5. You're correct Michelle, in this mdoern world people tend to go to bookstore rather than library.

And Rain, I can imagine the ambiance...make the reading feels more spooky...you better have a tea afterward to ease the tense =)

  6. And I wonder why I can't sleep! ha ha. Michelle once you have that library, you'll have to hire a guy named Jeeves to bring in tea and crumpets for your guests! :-)
