Namaste

Often I hear people saying "namaste". Those who do yoga surely often hear this word. I don't really know the meaning of the word but I do know that the meaning must be something good. Why? Because the word is often used to greet other people. Here's what wikipedia has to say about the word:

Namaste (nah-məs-tayHindi: [nəməsteː]formal: Namaskar/Namaskaram) is a common spoken valediction or salutation originating from the Hindus and Buddhists in the Indian Subcontinent and also in Japan. It is acustomary greeting when individuals meet, and a valediction upon their parting. A non-contact form of salutation is traditionally preferred in India and Nepal; Namaste is the most common form of such a salutation.

Namaste is derived from Sanskrit and is a combination of two words, "Namaḥ" and "te." Namaḥ means 'bow,' 'obeisance,' 'reverential salutation' or 'adoration' and te means 'to you' (dative case of 'you'). Therefore, Namaste literally means "salutations to you.

And below is the image I found when I was browsing about the image of the word "namaste". Turns out that the meaning is very nice. No wonder people use it to greet other people. Maybe from now on I will greet you with the really beautiful word "namaste" =)
