Pretty Gloves..

How often do you wear fashion gloves? I rarely wear it since I live in a tropical country in which I don't need any kind of gloves. In fact, I don't even have a pair of it. But looking at these pretty images of gloves make me want to have lots of pretty gloves. But if I do have one, I have no idea where would I wear it to. It always nice to see a woman wearing a pair of gloves, any kind of gloves; wrist gloves, elbow gloves, fingerless gloves, evening gloves, formal or casual gloves. For me gloves can make a fashion statement. Here's a bit of history about gloves from Women Fashion Wear...

"In 13th century, gloves became a fashion accessory and also started being used for ceremonial and religious purposes. The gloves were made of linen and silk and sometimes covered the arm upto the elbow. In 16th century, Queen Elizabeth I set the fashion for wearing the gloves richly embroidered and jeweled. These gloves became a symbol of royalty.
Later on, gloves were used for everyday work and for fashion purposes. Now, gloves are used to keep warm and to make a fashion statement"

Sincere...

Hi everyone..How are you all doing? I'm quite busy on the last couple of days...that's the reason why I haven't been writing any posts since last weekend. So, here I am..back in my blog. Last weekend was a busy weekend, I had a meeting with friends of mine and discussing about arranging some events that we're going to do next month. Somehow my mind kept thinking about doing something sincerely and most importantly how to always be sincere... What do you think about the quote below? Agree or not? My mind splits up between agreeing and disagreeing on quote below. But I do know that "sincere" and "hypocrite" are friends but enemies.

Every man alone is sincere. At the entrance of a second person, hypocrisy begins.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

What I mean here is that sometimes we often do what we think other will see it right, not because we are willing to do it but we just want people to notice what we're doing. Well, maybe I am wrong about this..what do you think? Here's something I found on WikiHow about Being Sincere...

  1. Act the same way alone as you do when in the presence of others. This is the real you and this is the person that people will warm to and trust. If you try too hard to be what you think other people want to see in you, the result will not be sincere and you will spend a lot of time projecting a persona that is not a real part of yourself. That is not only hard work but is ultimately insincere
  2. Do things out of the goodness of your heart; don't seek a reward or do things to acquire things from people. When you give without expecting the boomerang effect to occur, the giving becomes an act of sincerity and an expression of your genuine concern for and interest in others. A heart that is worn on the sleeve is evident to others, and people who do this will engender a sense of rapport with others.

  3. Understand that sincerity comes from the heart. Whatever you do or say, it is vital to mean to do or say it and to back it up with your beliefs. You cannot be sincere if you say you like chocolate when you hate it. You cannot be sincere when you compliment someone but deep inside you detest him or her. You cannot be sincere when you apologize just for the sake of disarming the person that you offended, with the motive of future revenge, but you can be sincere if you are truthful to yourself.
  4. Don't do it or say it, unless you believe it from your heart. If you are placed in a situation that requires you to offer compliments or to express your opinions and tastes but you feel hampered by "white lies", there is an easy solution to this. Only choose the truths. For example, if you are called upon to give a speech about a person who is someone you would rather not be anywhere near ordinarily, choose things about that person that are good. List at least three things which you know to be good about that person and develop your speech around the good points. This will help you to speak genuinely and from the heart.
  5. Realize that sincerity can expose you. Opening up to others about your feelings, motives and aspirations can cause some people to react in insincere ways and to try and drag you down. If you are forearmed to expect this possibility, then it will come as less of a shock. Remain calm and non-confrontational when faced with such responses. There are reasons such as insecurity and anger that lie behind the inability of some people to cope with sincerity and to abuse you for it.
  6. Use positive affirmations. Always seek the good in you, in others, in situations. Try to place yourself in the other person's shoes to see where they are coming from. When negative connotations arise, use your positive affirmations to override the negatives and to try to find the silver lining in any situation. Sincerity thrives on effort to think the right way.
  7. Don't over-polish things. Sincerity is about immediacy, spontaneity, spur-of-the moment responses that well up from your genuine self. Polishing responses (whether by e-mail, speech, letter or otherwise) often removes the sincerity and replaces it with overlays of caution, attempted perfectionism and maybe even sugar-coating. The difference is detectable by the recipient and can mean the difference between you getting that deadline shifted, getting that job, getting that understanding you so very much need... or not.

  8. Be hospitable and lack material neediness. Sincerity is advanced when you are open to having others in your life and when you do not feel a need to compare yourself with what others have and what you do not. Material neediness destroys the ability to be sincere because your focus is always on protecting your possessions and aiming to accumulate more instead of looking outwards into the human community around you and perceiving the ways in which you can add substance to it through the goodness of your heart. Learn to let go of this neediness and learn to open your heart to people and your community. In that way, sincerity will become second nature.

Holiday..needed!

This is what I really want to do right now. Enjoy the sun and just chill out. I feel like I need a holiday, not just a weekend holiday but a real holiday, escaping myself from the world. You see the image below? So nice, isn't it? Just you and the sun. And if my boyfriend comes along, that would be such a perfect holiday...the best one =)

When was the last time you had your real holiday?

Have you seen the rainbow?

When it's raining, do you enjoy it? Often when it's raining I always hope there'll be beautiful rainbow after the rain has gone. But that rarely happens. Seeing a rainbow is like seeing something very rare and unique that at the exact point of time I feel very grateful being able to see it. It been some time since the last time I saw a rainbow. But how about a "rainbow" in our own life? Not literally a rainbow but things that can make bring you joy in your life. In this case we can always have rainbow everytime we want it. Always put it in your pocket so that everytime trouble comes, you can always pick it up and smile =) So, have you seen a rainbow in your life? Here's a short uplifting article I found on articlesbase written by Joan Marie Whelan.

The rainbow in our life is the promise that our higher source offers us each and every time sorrows rain into our lives. It is the promise that there is yet another blessing surfacing for us to experience.

Have you seen the rainbow in your life? If you have not, you are clearly missing the opportunity for you to start anew. It is that colorful rainbow that allows you to rediscover the joy and love that you may have lost. It allows you to redefine the unique individual you are as you see and feel the signs of hope and new possibilities that await you. It allows you to find the inner peace that, at this moment, you lack.

Metaphorically, your rainbow can be found in nature wherever you may go: It is the bird in the tree, the butterfly perched atop a branch or maybe it circles around your head, it is the breeze whisking through your hair and touching your face, it is the laughter of a child, it is the smile on your grandma's face, it is the hug from a friend, it is the warmth of the sun, it is the wetness from the rain – because it simply is.

From this day forward, I want you to rediscover the rainbows in your life. I promise that there are many you have missed and it is now time for you to realize that no matter where you go, what you do, who you see, what you encounter… that there is always a new perspective, a fresh beginning, a special bond between you and a higher power that you will survive, you will overcome and you will find happiness and contentment once again. See the rainbow in your life and live your promise today, tomorrow and every day.

Motivation Boost

Here's a good reading for a new week =) This one is a motivations list to boost your mood and your thoughts. The writer, James Pswarai, suggest us to read the list every morning. It works for me, and I always love to have a good mood early in the morning so I can do all the other things on the rest of the day in a good mood. So, here's the list, from A to Z...

A - Achieve your dreams

It is possible to achieve your dreams. What you have to ask yourself is are you willing to work hard for them? They are not impossible to achieve, as Alexander the Great once said "Impossible is nothing to him who will try". Believe in yourself and you will have no problem achieving your dream.

B - Believe in yourself

If you don't believe in yourself who else will? If you believe you can do something then go straight ahead and do it.

C - Consider things on every angle and aspect.

Make sure you understand thins from both sides. There is always another side to the argument.

D - Don't give up and don't give in.

Giving up won't help you and it won't make you feel any better. Do you think the Einstein's answer just fell into his lap? No he worked hard and was determined. "The pain of the moment is temporary but the pain of giving up can last a lifetime".

E - Enjoy.

Enjoy your life! You will feel a lot better when you realise how great your life really .

F - Family and Friends

These people will be your bright light in times of darkness. They will guide you when you need help. Don't lose them for they are a great source of motivation.

G - Give more than what is enough.

Put in extra effort. Doing the bare minimum won't get you praised, by doing extra you get complimented which is bound to give you a boost in motivation.

H - Hang on to your dreams.

Just because someone says that your idea is rubbish doesn't mean you give up on it. You keep it with you, you never know when it will come in handy.

I - Ignore those who try to destroy you.

Many people you know will be full of negativity and they will try to take any one down to feel the same way they do. Keep away from these people as they will do everything to break your motivation down

J - Just be yourself.

Don't try pleasing everyone. It is a hard thing to do. Your real fiends will love you for who you are, not who you aren't

K - keep trying no matter how hard life may seem.

There will be time when life seems to be hard and complicated but don't let that bother you. Keep working hard and sooner or later you will break through to a much happier time.

L - Learn to love yourself.

If you love yourself then you will feel a lot happier than if you hated yourself.

M - Make things happen.

Don't wait for a leader to come and push you. Do it yourself, Jump! You will be a lot happier with what you have achieved.

N - Never lie, cheat or steal.

Doing any of those could not only land you in trouble but doing these will make you feel bad soon enough and you will regret doing it (major motivation killer).

O - Open your eyes.

You need to learn to open your eyes. Don't look at how things should be, look how you want things to be and work towards them

P - Practice makes perfect.

Practice will stop us from making the same mistakes, practice will give us the motivation we need to become better.

Q - Quitters never win. And winners never quit.

Do you want to win? I certainly do! Don't quit, you never know how close you are to your objective if you quit.

R - Ready yourself.

Be prepared for anything that will come your way. Start and build yourself up before people knock you down. Remember it wasn't raining when Noah built the ark, he prepared for it.

S - Stop procrastinating.

T - Take control of your life.

Your life is your life. Not someone else's so don't let yourself get pushed around

U - Understand others.

Understanding others will allow you to understand where they stand. If they are negative or positive.

V - Visualize it.

Visualize your dream, how great it would be. Good? Well get to it!

W - Want it more than anything.

Determination will get you everywhere. If you are applying for a job and you have all the right qualifications and the other candidate is determined to succeed who do you think will get the job? A man with determination is hard to stop.

X - X Factor is what will make you different from the others.

Not the T.V show but your X-factor; your unique skill. Whatever it may be. Your unique skill is something that makes you you.

Y - You are unique.

Again the same as above. You are unique no one in this world looks, acts, or talks like you. Value your life because people value you in theirs.

Z - Zero in on your dreams

And go for it!!!

Overgrown..

Maybe you have known it that I love country home or cottage home. I always feel peaceful everytime I see the type of the house. I can feel that it would be so nice living in a house like that, or maybe it would be very nice if every weekend I could spend few days just doing nothing in the country side =) Here are some of the overgrown plant on the house that don't really look that spooky. Often when I see a house with overgrown plant, I always identified it with abandoned house. But these houses are not one of those. Just look at the images below, so very nice, aren't they? The overgrown plant just fits perfectly, the house even look nicer...

your best and your worst

I love this quote that I found on Flickr. It makes me think about someone who has seen me at my best and proud of me and at the same time has also there when I was at my worst and still be there for me. For sure everyone will say that when you meet that "someone", you have to keep him/her. You have to be thankful that he/she is always be beside you. The more important thing for me other than having someone who's always be by your side is to be myself. I really believe that when you're being you, no matter what, people will appreciate you more. To be nobody but yourself.
All my life I had been looking for something, and everywhere I turned someone tried to tell me what it was. I accepted their answers too, though they were often in contradiction and even self-contradictory. I was naïve. I was looking for myself and asking everyone except myself questions which I, and only I, could answer. It took me a long time and much painful boomeranging of my expectations to achieve a realization everyone else appears to have been born with: that I am nobody but myself.

Food for your mood

How are you? In a good mood to start the week or not in a really good mood? What would you have if suddenly you're not in a very good mood? I kinda have a bad mood, because of someone else. But i won't take it too long about this not-so-good mood. I try not to get along with bad mood because it can have a bad effect to other feelings on me or even other people. I usually have warm cup of tea when I'm having a bad mood, having a tea can automatically relax my mind. It's the best remedy for me and it always works. But actually there are more you can have to make a bad mood turn into a good mood. I got this list from DivineCaroline. 10 food that can improve your mood.

Ten Foods That Will Improve Your Mood

  1. Spinach - This leafy green is loaded with the B vitamin folate, which has been linked to depression when levels are too low. B vitamins help the brain produce serotonin, a neurotransmitter that affects mood and behavior.
  2. Turkey - Turkey’s full of tryptophan, an amino acid that the body uses to create mood-regulating serotonin and melatonin. Since our bodies don’t produce tryptophan naturally, we must get it from food sources. For a non-poultry vehicle for the amino acid, try pineapple, cottage cheese, or lobster.
  3. Walnuts - Researchers at the Massachusetts based McLean Hospital found that rats’ moods improved when given an injection of omega-3 fatty acids. Walnuts and ground flaxseeds (they have to be ground for the body to absorb the nutrients) are the best non-animal source of omega-3s.
  4. Milk/Non-Dairy Milk - Milk products and vitamin-fortified non-dairy products (soy milk, almond milk, etc.) are rich in vitamin D, which can increase serotonin production and has been linked to reducing depression in some people. A 2008 study published in the Journal of Internal Medicine found that vitamin D alleviated some depressive symptoms.
  5. Soy - Like turkey, soy products such as tofu and edamame have high levels of tryptophan. Soybeans also rank low on the glycemic index, meaning they don’t spike energy levels too quickly and won’t cause a mood crash later.
  6. Salmon - If you’re not a vegetarian, the best way to get a good dose of omega-3s into your diet is through salmon. Not a fan of salmon? Tuna and herring boast a decent amount of the fatty acids as well.
  7. Beans - Protein- and fiber-filled legumes like black beans and lentils are also packed with iron, an essential mineral that combats lethargy and gives us energy.
  8. Chocolate - Few people would frown after popping a square of chocolate into their mouths, but it’s not just because it tastes so good—chocolate causes the brain to release endorphins and can boost serotonin levels and it contains compounds, like phenylethylamine, that act as mild stimulants. However, plain old milk chocolate won’t do; opt for 70 percent dark chocolate to ensure maximum health benefits.
  9. Carbohydrates - Foods rich in carbohydrates also affect serotonin levels in the body, but simple carbs—those with white flour as the primary ingredient—increase insulin production so rapidly that the feel-good vibes we get after ingesting them quickly turn into grumpiness. Stick to whole grains like oats, brown rice, and whole wheat bread, all of which contain B vitamins as well.
  10. Bananas - Besides being a potassium powerhouse, eating bananas adds a hefty amount of tryptophan to our diets. In a study at Oxford University, researchers found that women recovering from depression who were deficient in tryptophan had a higher chance of regressing back to depressive states. Bananas are a great source of iron, too.

I Love You

Isn't this nice? Lots of people out there wrote "I LOVE YOU" here and there. And they're not afraid to say it or write it publicly so that other people know how they feel. I love seeing this mosaic image. Seeing this makes me feel like the world out there is actually full of people loving one another. (image from flickr)

Don't be Stress

Few tips for you who are now in a street mood. Just relax, take a deep breath...and read the list. Hope at least one of the points can release you from stress. Do not worry too much..weekend is here. Time to clear or the worries and doubts that have been bothering you all the week.

Proven Stress Reducers

  1. Get up fifteen minutes earlier in the morning. The inevitable morning mishaps will be less stressful.
  2. Prepare for the morning the evening before. Set the breakfast table. Make lunches. Put out the clothes you plan to wear, etc.
  3. Don't rely on your memory. Write down appointment times, when to pick up the laundry, when library books are due, etc. ("The palest ink is better than the most retentive memory."- Old Chinese Proverb)
  4. Do nothing you have to lie about later.
  5. Make copies of all keys. Bury a house key in a secret spot in the garden. Carry a duplicate car key in your wallet, apart from your key ring.
  6. Practice preventive maintenance. Your car, appliances, home and relationships will be less likely to break down "at the worst possible moment."
  7. Be prepared to wait. A paperback book can make a wait in a post office line almost pleasant.
  8. Procrastination is stressful. Whatever you want to do tomorrow, do today; whatever you want to do today, do it now.
  9. Plan ahead. Don't let the gas tank get below one quarter full, keep a well- stocked "emergency shelf'' of home staples, don't wait until you're down to your last bus token or postage stamp to buy more, etc.
  10. Don't put up with something that doesn't work right. If your alarm clock wallet, shoe laces, windshield wipers-whatever-are a constant aggravation, get them fixed or get new ones.
