Life's Assumptions..

I just this thought going around in my head. People say that life is all about choices. My whole life I always thought that way too about life. If it’s not black, then it’s white. If it’s not right, then it’s wrong.

But just yesterday, I had a different thought about life.

What if all this time…life is all about assumptions? You have to make some assumptions of life in which if the first assumption was not working properly, you still have your second assumption. Therefore, life is all about creating your own scenario. That’s what I think…

Patios..

What is a patio? Patio derived from a Spanish word which means backyard or back garden and patio is commonly can be called veranda or balcony (source: wikipedia). I can really consider patio as a place for daily retreat. Found these beautiful patios on Sunset.com. While I am seeing the images below, I can imagine myself going back home from long day at work, making a cup of warm tea and tuning in into some relaxing swing jazzy tunes and just sit down relaxing at the patio. Oh, and the cute pug that I've always wanted=) What do you think? Sounds good, right?

You might as well lie back and enjoy

I found this writing written by the oh-so-talented Neil Gaiman about life, which is all about balance. It is one of those writing that you can use as some kind of a guide for your life, just to ensure you that life is not always good. You just have to face some dull moments now and then. Life is full of ups, life is also full of down moments. Life is bad, life is good. But in the end, the best thing that you can do is just to ENJOY LIFE =) And as for now..you might as well enjoy reading Neil Gaiman quotes below. Have a good Friday..

“I can believe things that are true and things that aren’t true and I can believe things where nobody knows if they’re true or not.

I can believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny and the Beatles and Marilyn Monroe and Elvis and Mister Ed. Listen - I believe that people are perfectable, that knowledge is infinite, that the world is run by secret banking cartels and is visited by aliens on a regular basis, nice ones that look like wrinkled lemurs and bad ones who mutilate cattle and want our water and our women.

I believe that the future sucks and I believe that the future rocks and I believe that one day White Buffalo Woman is going to come back and kick everyone’s ass. I believe that all men are just overgrown boys with deep problems communicating and that the decline in good sex in America is coincident with the decline in drive-in movie theaters from state to state.

I believe that all politicians are unprincipled crooks and I still believe that they are better than the alternative. I believe that California is going to sink into the sea when the big one comes, while Florida is going to dissolve into madness and alligators and toxic waste.

I believe that antibacterial soap is destroying our resistance to dirt and disease so that one day we’ll all be wiped out by the common cold like martians in War of the Worlds.

I believe that the greatest poets of the last century were Edith Sitwell and Don Marquis, that jade is dried dragon sperm, and that thousands of years ago in a former life I was a one-armed Siberian shaman.

I believe that mankind’s destiny lies in the stars. I believe that candy really did taste better when I was a kid, that it’s aerodynamically impossible for a bumble bee to fly, that light is a wave and a particle, that there’s a cat in a box somewhere who’s alive and dead at the same time (although if they don’t ever open the box to feed it it’ll eventually just be two different kinds of dead), and that there are stars in the universe billions of years older than the universe itself.

I believe in a personal god who cares about me and worries and oversees everything I do. I believe in an impersonal god who set the universe in motion and went off to hang with her girlfriends and doesn’t even know that I’m alive. I believe in an empty and godless universe of causal chaos, background noise, and sheer blind luck.

I believe that anyone who says sex is overrated just hasn’t done it properly. I believe that anyone who claims to know what’s going on will lie about the little things too.

I believe in absolute honesty and sensible social lies. I believe in a woman’s right to choose, a baby’s right to live, that while all human life is sacred there’s nothing wrong with the death penalty if you can trust the legal system implicitly, and that no one but a moron would ever trust the legal system.

I believe that life is a game, that life is a cruel joke, and that life is what happens when you’re alive and that you might as well lie back and enjoy it.”

Watch Diary

This is very unique. I am sure that everyone who loves to write a journal or who loves to own a not book or a diary will love this book. This one is called WATCH DIARY. I found this really unique diary on Yanko Design. Wonjune Song is the creator of this Watch Diary. What makes this diary so unique is the watch located at the center of the book. Everytime you turn new pages, you'll see the watch and therefore you will always remember what you did on what time or what you'll do at what time. Just like what the site explain below:

The “red hand” indicates the current task, the “before hand” indicates past chores and the “forward hand” indicates the upcoming ones.

What Happy Couples Do..

I found this really good article or list about things that happy couples do. The article was written by Mark Goulston, M.D, via oasisofinspiration. I believe that to be happy with yourself and to be happy when you're with your other half is both important. It's a good feeling when you're able to be happier when you're with your loved one. So, have you ever been jealous every time you see a really happy couple as if they're a match made in heaven? I do believe that the couple always do the things that can make their life happier. It takes two to tango, so I believe that both party plays the same important role in order to make a happy and healthy relationship. Here are 10 things that happy couples do...have you done any of it?
10 things that happy couples do

1. Go to bed at the same time.
Remember the beginning of your relationship, when you couldn’t wait to go to bed with each other? Happy couples resist the temptation to go to bed at different times. They go to bed at the same time, even if one partner wakes up later to do things while their partner sleeps.

2. Cultivate common interests.
After the passion settles down, it’s common to realize that you have few interests in common. But don’t minimize the importance of activities you can do together that you both enjoy. If common interests are not present, happy couples develop them. At the same time, be sure to cultivate interests of your own; this will make you more interesting to your mate and prevent you from appearing too dependent.

3. Walk hand in hand or side by side.
Rather than one partner lagging or dragging behind the other, happy couples walk comfortably hand in hand or side by side. They know it’s more important to be with their partner than to see the sights along the way.

4. Make trust and forgiveness your default mode.
If and when they have a disagreement or argument, and if they can’t resolve it, happy couples default to trusting and forgiving rather than distrusting and begrudging.

5. Focus more on what your partner does right than what he or she does wrong.
If you look for things your partner does wrong, you can always find something. If you look
for what he or she does right, you can always find something, too. It all depends on what you want to look for. Happy couples accentuate the positive.

6. Hug each other as soon as you see each other after work.
Our skin has a memory of “good touch” (loved), “bad touch” (abused) and “no touch” (neglected). Couples who say hello with a hug keep their skin bathed in the “good touch,” which can inoculate your spirit against anonymity in the world.

7. Say “I love you” and “Have a good day” every morning.
This is a great way to buy some patience and tolerance as each partner sets out each day to battle traffic jams, long lines and other annoyances.

8. Say “Good night” every night, regardless of how you feel.
This tells your partner that, regardless of how upset you are with him or her, you still want to be in the relationship. It says that what you and your partner have is bigger than any single up
setting incident.

9. Do a “weather” check during the day.
Call your partner at home or at work to see how his or her day is going. This is a great way to adjust expectations so that you’re more in sync when you connect after work. For instance, if your partner is having an awful day, it might be unreasonable to expect him or her to be enthusiastic about something good that happened to you.

10. Be proud to be seen with your partner.
Happy couples are pleased to be seen together and are often in some kind of affectionate contact — hand on hand or hand on shoulder or knee or back of neck. They are not showing off but rather just saying that they belong with each other.

Friendship is valuable..

Friendship isn't a big thing - it's a million little things. ~Author Unknown

I just came back having a brunch with my flatmate back when I was studying in Monash University Malaysia. It always feels so good to see close friend after quite some time. She's Malaysian and I'm Indonesian..the last time we met was about 5 years ago at our graduation. So, I've been waiting for this brunch and felt really excited. Then we met this morning...the excitement really was there. We were having a cup of latte and I'm having a waffle, she's having a banana toast. Just us talking about things we used to do back in college. Such a great time.

And now here I am remembering all the friendships I have with my close friends. I always value friendships very much. I have many friends but there are only few who I can call really close friends. I have six close friends that I knew since we were 6...up until now we're still close..closer than ever. Their happiness are also my happiness. So for those of you who have close friends..the ones that you can call real friend, you have to value your relationship...because those friends are the one that will always be by your side, no matter what.

Here's a piece of article written by Karishma Kristina Tannan (taken from ezinearticles) about FRIENDS and FRIENDHSIP...

The Beauty of Friendship

This person just loves you for whom you are. This one person can see things, which you also may not be able to see. This one person knows you so well that even if someone comes and tries to tell them something bad about you, it still does not change a thing since they know who you really are and is confident about whatever you do and will always stand by you. This person is always there for you no matter what the situation is and advises you or goes out of their way to help you. This person is your guide, your friend. To this special person I must say a big thank you who thought me the BEAUTY OF FRIENDSHIP. So in short of you had to say what a friend is then:-

F-forgiveness
R-respect
I-Impartial
E-Emotional
N-Nurture
D-Dependable

And Friendship would be

F-Fun
R-Rational
I-Intuition
E- Endurance
N-Never Ending
D-Devotion
S-support
H-honesty
I-inspiration
P-Perfect

What U Want..What U Need

Last time, I made a posting about Want vs Need (click here to read the posting). On the posting, I put some images that differentiate about need and want from RecoveringLazyHolic. Here are some of the images.
Look at the images above...don't you all totally agree on what it says? Sometimes we have to differentiate between what we need and what we want. What we want doesn't necessarily is the thing that we need. Most of the time, we ended up not using the things we bought just because we want it...not because we need it. Now, here some part of an article from EzineArticles with the title of Want Vs Need - The Difference Between Wanting and Needing written by Dwayne Gilbert. Hoping that after reading the article, we can now all be able to differentiate between need and want..

There is a huge difference between wanting what you want and needing what you want, and both are just emotional states that you need to be aware of. If you are on the path toward attracting what you want, you must be careful not to allow yourself to slip into the negative emotional state of neediness. There is a horrible and vicious mindset among humans that many of the things we have we need when in reality, there are only a few things we actually need and the rest are things we want. There is nothing wrong with wanting, however, allowing yourself to believe that you need something will only stop you from getting it.

We must know what we want, and we must have a passion to have what we want. There is nothing wrong with having this passion or the desire to have it. The problem for many people though is that they fall into a mindset of neediness. A mindset of neediness will not get us what we want. In fact, it will begin to push it away making it harder and harder for us to have what it is we desire. When working with the law of attraction, we need to have a burning desire for what we want. This is the emotional driver that brings those things we desire closer to us. Our ability to put positive emotion into our visualizations as well as strong, powerful passion into acquiring is in direct relationship to our getting what it is we want. We need to remember not to take it to seriously though. Wanting is a very powerful thing, but becoming so attached to what we want only causes emotional distress.

Colors..

I was browsing about living room and then I stumbled on this really amazing and stunning decor of Toronto interior decorator Holly Dyment. She was majoring on fine art. She is famous for her use of bright colors of the decor. Not just on the wall but on the furniture and accessories too. If you see some of her decor below, you'll know straight away about her strength. At first I felt like the rooms below were too bright but the more I see those rooms, the more I can feel the colors blend in well into the whole interior...which makes the whole room looks really stunning.

Palm Reading..

Hi everyone...How's your weekend? Let's just start this day straight forward. Do you believe about palm reading? What do you think about it? I do believe that we all have our own path and our own life story. In fact, each of us has our own unique finger print. So, this palm reading stuff might be true regarding what it can say about our life. But then again, don't put yourself directly to what your palm tells about you. Probably you can see it just as a broad view about your life. Well, that's just what I have in mind. I found this palm reading explanation on Greenmangos, below is just the general explanation. You can go to the site (here) to see what's yours tell about your life =)

When I woke up this morning...

Sometimes we don't have to look far to find inspiration. Most of the times those that are near to us bring the best inspirations for us. Here's something to boost your mood this Friday morning and something to make your weekend bright =)

When I woke up this morning lying in bed,
I was asking myself, 'What are some of the secrets of success in life?'
I found the answer right there, in my very room.
The fan said.............Be Cool.
The Roof said...........Aim High.
The window said.......See the World.
The Clock said..........Every minute is precious.
The Mirror said..........Reflect before you act.
The Calender............Be up-to-date.
The door said............Push hard for your goals.

Tiny Apartment

I have always wanted to have big house. I guess it's because I grow up in this huge house that my parents built long before I was born. So, it's seems like a good thing for me to be able to have space of my own...my big room with my queen size bed, my own big closet and so on. But then I found this amazing tiny apartment on Yahoo! Green. It changes the way I think to always want a big house or apartment. What so special about this apartment is that it has 24 rooms! Can you believe that? How can you fit or build 24 rooms in one tiny apartment. Now I believe that it's not how big your house is but it's about how you can manage to have all the rooms that you need in one place called home...no matter how small it is..a home is always the best place =) You can see the image and the video below..

Superstitious..

Do you believe in superstitions? Sometimes I do believe it, not because I believe the irrational reason behind it but it's been like a habit for me to believe it in order to avoid bad things that might happen. Sounds a bit silly I know, but my parents always told me to believe it...so I ended up growing up believing on those things. Other than that, I live in Indonesia in which we still believe on traditional stories and folks and we do have strong cultures. We tend to listen to our parents and grandparents. But as time goes by, I believe it in a way that somehow it has a logical reason behind every superstitious thing. But how about the superstitions below? I just came across an article about superstitious things. That's the reason why I was talking about superstitious things. Here are some of the superstitions written by Allison Ford from DivineCaroline and the reasons why they exist. You may believe it or you may not, It's all up to you...

Superstitions and Why They Exist

  • Don’t Spill the Salt!
Salt is one of our most ancient and versatile foodstuffs, used for preserving food as well as flavoring it. For most of history, it was incredibly valuable, too, sometimes even used as currency. Spilling such a precious commodity was akin to dumping the thirty-year-old Scotch down the drain. For anyone who was careless enough to waste salt, throwing a pinch over the left shoulder was said to keep the devil away, since he was sure to be following you after such a grievous offence.

  • Walking Under Ladders Brings Bad Luck
This superstition has its roots in religion. Some Christians believe that any object with three points—like a ladder leaning against a house—represents the Trinity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Early Christians believed that to destroy or subvert a three-pointed object (like by walking through it) one was expressing disbelief in the Trinity, and would therefore probably go to Hell. As religious conviction softened, the promise of eternal damnation was relaxed to merely the threat of bad luck. I admit to following the rule against walking under ladders, but for a more practical purpose—I don’t care for things dropping on my head, as is wont to happen when people are working above.

  • Un-Lucky Number Thirteen
Plenty of otherwise rational people are loath to schedule important events on the thirteenth of the month, and many buildings and towns don’t even include a thirteenth floor or thirteenth street, because so many people believe the number to be cursed. The origins of this superstition are factually tenuous, and there are many theories about how it came about. Christian theology teaches that Judas was the thirteenth guest at the Last Supper, making him unlucky. Norse mythology states that the god Loki, who was the thirteenth guest at a banquet, killed the hero, Balder. Not to mention the fact that several serial killers have thirteen letters in their name, like Charles Manson or Jeffrey Dahmer. Fear of the number thirteen even has its own name, triskaidekaphobia, and many sufferers refuse to be the thirteenth guest at a party, or to sit in row thirteen on an airplane for fear that some terrible fate will befall them. In reality, there’s no credible evidence to suggest anything sinister about any particular number, and in some cultures, the number thirteen is actually considered quite lucky.
