Rich and Poor

Sometimes perception can play a really important role in our thought. I am sure that when two people look at the same thing, they might have different perceptive on that exact same thing. The story below tells us that being rich or being poor depends on how we perceive our live compare to other people's life. Having all the money in the world will not guarantee you to be happy always. Sometimes, all we need is our mind to think that we are rich. Rich in terms of having all the things valuable in live such as family, friends, love and many more. I think that being rich doesn't mean that you have all those material things, being rich for me is to always have happiness and love around me, sharing those moments with family and friends. That's is my version of being rich =)

One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live.

They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.
On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"
"It was great, Dad."

"Did you see how poor people live?" the father asked."Oh yeah," said the son.

"So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?" asked the father.
The son answered:

  • "I saw that we have one dog and they had four.
  • We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end.
  • We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night.
  • Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.
  • We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.
  • We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.
  • We buy our food, but they grow theirs.
  • We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them."
The boy's father was speechless.
Then his son added, "Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are."

Isn't perspective a wonderful thing? Makes you wonder what would happen if we all gave thanks for everything we have, instead of worrying about what we don't have.

Appreciate every single thing you have!

Weekend..

Some of the weekend quotes...Why am I posting this? Because it's Friday =) Yaaay...Actually you don't have to wait for the weekend to have fun, right? But because of our daily weekdays routine tasks, somehow we don't manage to have spare time to do anything else besides our work stuff. So, since weekend is here..any plans for the weekend? I've read somewhere on a magazine that planning for the weekend can have a positive effect on our health. When you have plans for the weekend, your mind and your body will look forward to the plans and that feelings make you happy. Don't worry if you plan to be lazy the whole weekend, as long as you'll enjoy it...it'll be a good weekend. I hope you have a great plan for the weekend =)The only reason why we ask other people how their weekend was is so we can tell them about our own weekend. ~Chuck Palahniuk

Always love this..

I just can't get enough or country style home decor. When it comes to interior design, I prefer to choose some kind of a country or cottage style. I feel like it's more homey and warm. I like to see the wooden decor inside the house. It seems to me that I can always feel a weekend or holiday feelings whenever I'm in the house because most people tend to have a country or cottage house as their holiday getaway home.

Honesty...

I really value honesty. Last night I was watching a re-run on Grey's Anatomy about honesty, about telling other people the truth so there's nothing to hide anymore. I know that honesty sometimes hurts but I also know that telling the truth is the most valuable thing you can give to other people, in the right time of course. I am aware that we cannot always have the life go in our way, in our direction. In life, we always meet different kinds of people in which many of them often say the truth about us, about our life and many more. Will you still value honest even though it hurts you sometimes? I found this article from DailyOM, it's a very good one.

As children most of us learn that honesty is better than dishonesty, and we may not question this beyond whether or not to do what we’re told. As adults, however, we can go deeper to examine our choices as investments of energy with predictable risks and returns. When we speak the truth, we affirm what already is. This is like using a paddle when the stream is already moving the same direction. We are already supported by the universe and its energy flow, so we don’t need to exert much energy, leaving more for other pursuits. But dishonesty redirects a portion of our energy against the flow, which requires extra effort. In addition, it creates an alternate reality that requires further energetic input to be maintained. So we can easily see that we are best served when we work with the flow of the universe.

Life is not always clearly defined, so we may find it useful to follow our choices to their logical conclusions. We may feel that little untruths are harmless, but they can be like small cracks that weaken an overall structure over time. Even giving someone a compliment or trying to protect them can create problems later when the alternate reality we’ve created becomes the basis for further actions. Even if the actions that follow are honestly done, the underlying unstable foundation of dishonesty will threaten to topple things eventually. This can lead to further energy being spent on keeping things hidden, working to remember the tales we’ve spun and fearing the consequences of being found out. Life doesn’t need to be this draining, but we can make the choice to free ourselves from the bonds of dishonesty at any time.

Speaking and living our truth may involve risking, among other things, the possibility of rejection. But when we allow ourselves to follow the flow of life, we are supported. We can then use our energy to cultivate physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being and to create our dreams, rather than leaving ourselves too drained to even maintain our existence. Today we can make honesty our choice in every interaction, bringing the nurturing power of the universe’s energy into our lives to bring positive, lasting results.

Procrastination

Hi everyone, Monday's here again. A new day to start a brand new week =) Hope everyone is doing well and have been able to re-charge a new mood along the weekend. My weekend went really well, spent time with friends, family and boyfriend of course. I don't know why but last week it happen to be a 'procrastination' week for me.

As far as I know, I'm not the one who are procrastinating and I try my best not be one. Well, at least that's what I think. Although sometimes I tend to postpone something. I guess it's just a nature of a human being. Don't you think so? But it seems to me that more and more people tend to procrastinate. I know that it's not good to make it become our habit. If you're living fir the current time, I believe that procrastination is not good, it's like a snowball. It's little at first but in the end it can crash anything because it's been growing and become stronger (not in a good way of course). Just like a quote below, I am really agree on what it says about procrastination. It says:

Procrastination is the thief of time" [Edward Young The Complaint: Night Thoughts]
So, how do you know if you are a procrastinator or not? You might want to take this quiz. Just a short one, here are some questions of the quiz:
  1. You constantly feel guilty about the things you aren't getting done.
  2. Do deadlines stress you out?
  3. When it comes to buying birthday presents for people...
  4. What best describes your morning routine?
  5. You have a huge project due in a few weeks. When do you begin working on it?
