Rumi...

This is a really nice poem by Rumi, one of my favorite poets. Everytime I read his works, I feel so peaceful. Though sometimes I have to dig deeper into his words to really get to know the real meaning of the words he wrote. I just found the new one below. I can feel the sincerity reading all the lines =) Have a great weekend everyone..

"An eye is meant to see things.
The soul is here for its own joy.

A head has one use: For loving a true love.
Feet: To chase after.

Love is for vanishing into the sky.
The mind, for learning what men have done and tried to do.

Mysteries are not to be solved:
The eye goes blind when it only wants to see why.

A lover is always accused of something.
But when he finds his love, whatever was lost
in the looking comes back completely changed."

Your emotion...

Have you ever drifted by your emotion? Can you control your emotion? I often think about it. I always think hundreds of times before when little by little my emotions drift me away. For example, when I was not in a good mood for laughing and joking with other people at a gathering or a party, I have two options...whether to go on with my not-so-good mood or go with the second option which is to get along and try to hide my emotions. If I were in that situation, I chose options 2, the reason is because I believe it's not other people's fault to joke around at that time but it's me who have to be able to put myself in the right situation. Maybe some people might think that it's the same as a poker face but I believe it's not. Hiding your emotion at the right time and at the right situation is fine. Can you imagine if my bad mood ruins other people's mood at the gathering or the party I mentioned earlier? So, how about you? Can you hide your feeling for the right time and situation or are you a kind of person who don't care about other people's emotion?

However, I am not saying that we always hide what we feel inside. That's not really good either. As far as we can control our emotion for the right purpose at the right time...that should be fine. Here's something I found (via here) about being in touched with our emotion:

However, being in touch with our emotions doesn’t necessarily equate with being out of control. We can be very in control and learn to use reason and logic alongside emotion and feelings. Learning to experience our emotions in an objective manner provides a way to think before we act, while still acknowledging the way we feel.

Your song..

I am loving this new UK singer Ellie Goulding. She sings this old song called "your Song" popularized by Sir Elton John. I always loved this song because of the lyrics, but this time I feel completely in love with the lyrics and the one who sings it. She has an amazing voice. Not one of those diva-like voice but it's one of those cute rare voice that I like =) Enjoy the song...

It's a little bit funny
this feeling inside
I'm not one of those who can easily hide
I don't have much money
but boy if i did
I'd buy a big house where
we both could live

So excuse me forgetting
but these things I do
see i've forgotten if
they're green or they're blue
anyway the thing is
what i really mean
yours are the sweetest eyes i've ever seen

And you can tell everybody,
this is your song
It may be quite simple but
now that is done
I hope you don't mind, i hope you don't mind
that i put down in words
how wonderful life is now your in the world

If i was a sculptor
but then again no
or girl who makes potions in a traveling show
I know it's not much but
it's the best i can do
My gift is my song and
this one's for you

And you can tell everybody
this is your song
It may be quite simple but
now that is done
I hope you dont mind, i hope you dont mind
that i put down in words
how wonderful life is now your in the world

Lessons from Fairy Tales..

The image below is a random image that you often find here and there on the internet. This one I found it on Tumblr (via bluquote). At a glimpse, you can only see that it's only those fairy tales about princess and so on but there are more than just a fairy tales. When you finally look and read what's inside it, you will see that it consists of lessons that we can learn from those fairy tale princesses. We can see that those stories are not just a fairy tale if we can dig deeper into it. The stories can give us something to be pondered about life. For example, the first story was about Snow White, in which it gives us an important lesson that everyone has their own personality that we can't merely judge solely on what they said and how they look. You can see the rest of the other stories below =)

Boost Your Mood..

What are you going to do to boost your mood? What if suddenly your mood drops and you're feeling blue and lazy? As an option, you can try to listen to upbeat music or maybe try to watch and listen to something funny like a joke. But did you know that there are food that can actually boost your mood? There are those foods that can make you comfort and there are also foods that can boost your mood. Below is the list of food and the explanation that I found on Eating Well. It's an article by Ana Mantica called Mood Boosting Foods.

Mood Boosting Foods

Pick fruit, vegetables, fish and other whole foods.

In a recent study of close to 3,500 men and women published in the British Journal of Psychiatry, those who reported eating a diet rich in whole foods in the previous year were less likely to report feeling depressed than those who ate lots of desserts, fried foods, processed meats, refined grains and high-fat dairy products. Previous studies have shown that antioxidants in fruits and vegetables and omega-3 fatty acids in fish are associated with lower risk of depression. Folate, a B vitamin found in dark green vegetables like spinach, beans and citrus, affects neurotransmitters that impact mood. It’s possible that the protective effect of the whole-food diet comes from a cumulative effect of these nutrients, says lead study author Tasnime N. Akbaraly, Ph.D.

Go ahead: order the bagel.

In a new study in the Archives of Internal Medicine, people who for a year followed a very-low-carbohydrate diet—which allowed only 20 to 40 grams of carbs daily, about the amount in just 1⁄2 cup of rice plus one piece of bread—experienced more depression, anxiety and anger than those assigned to a low-fat, high-carb diet that focused on low-fat dairy, whole grains, fruit and beans.

Have a little chocolate.

Eating dark chocolate (1.4 ounces of it, the amount pictured) every day for two weeks reduced stress hormones, including cortisol, in people who were highly stressed, a study done at the NestlĂ© Research Center in Switzerland recently found. “Polyphenols (antioxidants) in chocolate, and also in fruits and vegetables, may have contributed to the changes [in stress] in this study,” explains Douglas G. Mashek, Ph.D., assistant professor at the University of Minnesota in St. Paul. Psst: Be sure to account for the 235 calories that 1.4 ounces of chocolate delivers—or you may be stressed to see extra pounds creeping on.

Mixture decor...

How about opening up a Monday morning with some inspiring and refreshing home decor images? The first time I looked up the first image below, I was shocked...not in a bad way but in a happy way. Seeing an interior and exterior of the house below is such a refreshing thing for my mind and my sight. Below is a house located somewhere in Sydney (via here). What I like the most about the concept of the decor is the mixture of various types of theme. You can see a rustic brick wall, you can see a classic romantic room, there's a chic decor even a minimalist room but somehow the house looks so whole. Love love love this house...

Just Be Fit..

I finally decided to make a second account of Tumblr. The first one I had since about 2 years ago is called Just Be Splendid (click here to go to the site) and the second one I just made yesterday is called Just Be Fit (click here to go to the site). The reason I made a second tumblr account is because I want to make some kind of an online archive, in which most of the postings are pictures and images. But this one is a bit specific in which the main theme of my new tumblr is around health, nutririon, halthy diet and fitness. Maybe some of you don't know that I've lost around 15 kg since about 4 years ago. Since then I always try to feed myself with information regarding health, nutrition, fitness and other similar things. So, that's why I decided to make one specific health online archive =) Here's a sample of what's inside of my new tumblr. The one I posted below was from a-fitspirational-blonde. Being healthy really is important...

Elements and Zodiac...

What are your main characteristics based on your sign? Furthermore, what elements falls under your zodiac? It is known that zodiac signs fall under four elements (fire, earth, air and water) in which each element has its own characteristics. Below I gather information from Wikipedia and Zodiac-Signs-Astrology regarding Element signs.

Let's see whether the characteristics of the element match you personality. My element sign which is Gemini falls under Air Element and I can say that those characteristic somehow match my personality, not entirely match but the majority of the explanation can be said to be true and applied to my personality. My fave sentence of the Air Element is this: "Air people live in their mind"...which I found very true. So, how about yours?

Here's the info from Wikipedia:

Each sign is associated one of the classical elements (water, fire, earth and air.) Fire and Air signs are considered positive or extrovert, masculine signs; while Water and Earth signs are considered negative, introvert, feminine signs.

  • Fire signs (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius)
  • Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn)
  • Air signs (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius)
  • Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces)

And below is the explanation of each of the elements that I found via
Zodiac-Astrology-Signs.com

Fire Signs - Aries, Leo, Sagittarius

Fire can do good, like cooking food to eat and keeping us warm or it can do great harm, like burning a house down. Fire is a combustible, unpredictable element, a chemical reaction that can go off easily and quickly go from a small flame to a raging fire. Fire astrology signs can ignite easily too, they are very temperamental however if managed properly, they can be very beneficial. In fact, fire signs must be managed and under control in order to be of benefit. Fire signs can be emotionally volatile yet they are very passionate. Fire can change it's course at an instant, those born under fire astrology signs are very dynamic and like the fire spreading, are the first to set out into the unknown and take initiative with adventurous enthusiasm. Fire is not a physical thing, it is quite mystical and fire astrology sign people apprehend the world through their intuition, they trust their gut instinct (or they should anyway) because it rarely ever leads them wrong. Fire people have a strong sense of self just like fire which has no regard over anything in it's path, fire people are quite self centered but they are moving so fast that they never get stuck on themselves, the fire needs to spread and explore. Fire people are impulsive and just like fire spreading, often leap before they look.

Earth Signs - Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn

Earth is real, you can see it, hold it, smell it. Suitably so, earth signs are very "down to earth" and real. Earth is the foundation on which everything is built. Earth people are solid and stable and composed of many different parts, they are multi faceted people, like the many mineral compounds that make the earth. There is nothing wishy-washy about these people, they do not have their head in the clouds, They are dependable, you know they will always be there and they are stable. Most of the time anyway, more stable then the other elements. Earth does not change. It stays there and allows whatever is growing to continue to grow and progress. Earth people are not fond of change, they like stability and regular life that can grow upon and develop. Why start something new if what is already there is fine? Earth people are the most materialistic and possessive of all astrology zodiac elements. Earth people are also concerned with what's on the surface and never really dig deep to get to the bottom of it, they are happy with what's on the surface.

Air Signs - Gemini, Libra, Aquarius

Air is the element that you cannot touch or see, but it can be mysteriously contained, like blowing up a balloon. When it is contained in this way, it somehow escapes or gets stale. Air people are free and cannot be contained or this same thing will happen to them. Air is uncertain and unpredictable, it can spawn a horrendous thunderstorm with violent winds and the pressure drops and raises by the minute. Air sign people are elusive in this way, they are unpredictable and eccentric. Air is the most necessary element, being necessary to fire, earth and water. Air people live in their mind. They are caught up in their thoughts which take them high to new levels where no other element can reach, like the upper atmosphere. Here they can formulate theories, solve problems clearly and see the world below. Air people are said to be out of touch with reality, but they are also very advanced in thinking. They are very mental oriented people having a knack for intelligence but also lacking emotional depth.

Water Signs - Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

Water can be refreshing, like a cool stream or it can be dark and mysterious like the depths of the ocean. Water that is contained is easy to deal with, like swimming pool, water that is un-contained and out of control can do great damage, like a flood. Water signs represent the intuition and emotional aspects because it flows and it's liquid or it could be solid like ice, it can evaporate into air and turn into clouds. Water is complex and a paradox it is everywhere and can be almost anything. Water signs are the most emotional of all signs, they flow down deep and search out crevasses and cracks to explore, symbolic of the unknown emotions of the human psyche. Not only is water is essential to life and covers the whole globe, but water makes up the largest percentage of all living things. Since water is found in everything everywhere, water sign people have a knack for dealing with others, they can see into other people, they understand the motives and needs of other people and to sum it all up, they are borderline psychic and the most in-tune with others. This makes them empathetic, caring and helpful but they are over sensitive and can be easily hurt by others who do not acknowledge the sacrifices that have been made and how deeply involved they really are.

George Carlin's View On Aging...

Another writing made by George Carlin, an American stand-up comedian, author, social critics and actor. I've made two postings about his writing before (click here and here to see the postings). He is such a genius person. Genius in a unique way. He can always say things which have deep and thoughtful meaning but at the same time he can deliver those meanings in a relaxing and funny way. But in the end, those words stick in our mind. This one is his view about aging - George Carlin's View On Aging.

George Carlin's View On Aging

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions.

'How old are you?"I'm four and a half! 'You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five! That's the key

You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead.

'How old are you?' 'I'm gonna be 16!' You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life . You become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony .YOU BECOME 21 YESSSS!!!

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There's no fun now, you're Just a sour-dumpling. What's wrong? What's changed?

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50 and your dreams are gone.

But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would!

So you BECOME 21,TURN 30,PUSH 40,REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.

You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!

You get into your 80's and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30 ; you REACH bedtime. And it doesn't end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; 'I was JUST 92.'

Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. 'I'm 100 and a half!'
May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG
  1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay 'them'.
  2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.
  3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop' And the devil's name is Alzheimer's
  4. Enjoy the simple things.
  5. Laugh often, long and loud.. Laugh until you gasp for breath.
  6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.
  7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.
  8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.
  9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.
  10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity

Weekend Recipe..

It's recipe time. Why? Because it's Friday. You can have so as many experiments of new recipes as you like during the weekend =) Trying out a new recipe has always been my favorite thing to do. Although one or twice, the result of the new cooking experiment didn't turn out to be exactly like the recipe. But that's the reason why we call it an experiment, don't you think so? So, here one recipe that you can try...do the magic in your kitchen. This one is Baked Ravioli, the one I found on Taste and Tell. Looks easy and of course delicious. Care to try? have a great weekend everyone..xoxo

Baked Ravioli
(serves 4 to 6 - total cooking time 50 minutes)

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • coarse salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried thyme or oregano
  • 1 can (28-ounces) whole tomatoes
  • 1 can (28-ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 pounds ravioli
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, and season with salt and pepper; cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5 minutes. Add thyme and tomatoes. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer, breaking up tomatoes with spoon, until sauce is thickened and reduced to about 5 1/2 cups, 20 to 25 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, cook ravioli in a large pot of boiling salted water just until they float to the top (pasta will continue to cook in oven). Drain pasta; return to pot.
  3. Toss sauce with pasta. Pour pasta into a large gratin dish or 9-by-13-inch baking dish, and sprinkle with cheeses. Bake until golden, 20 to 25 minutes. Cool slightly before serving.

Amazing Photography

This is such an amazing work! I can't help but posting this to share it to you. Below are animated gif pictures by a New York based photographer Jamie Beck. I don't usually like those gif pictures, the one with the same movement again and again. Those kind of pictures always make my head spinning because of the same movement. But this one is different. These animated pictures give you some kind of a real situation i which you witness the making of the picture. This is a quote from The Atlantic about the work:

"New York photographer Jamie Beck has turned the GIF into a respected art form, presenting an interesting path for future use"

Just like the first picture below, it makes me feel like I can feel the breeze of the wind. Really amazing. Other than that, the model was Coco Rocha...what's not to love about Coco Rocha!

The belief...

This is a really good quote from Anne Lamott's book called Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life. Anne Lamott is a novelist and a non-fictional writer. It's about what's inside us. It's what we think that have made our thoughts come true. It's not how strong your body is but it's more into how big your mind is and how deep your heart is. That's what makes all things possible...

"You are lucky to be one of those people who wishes to build sand castles with words, who is willing to create a place where your imagination can wander. We build this place with the sand of memories; these castles are our memories and inventiveness made tangible. So part of us believes that when the tide starts coming in, we won't really have lost anything, because actually only a symbol of it was there in the sand. Another part of us thinks we'll figure out a way to divert the ocean. This is what separates artists from ordinary people: the belief, deep in our hearts, that if we build our castles well enough, somehow the ocean won't wash them away. I think this is a wonderful kind of person to be."

Cheery Apartment...

When it comes to an apartment interior, how would you like yours to be? Minimalist, classic, modern or maybe rustic? This one, the theme of the apartment is cheery that I found on Marieclaire Maison =) You won't have to think hard when it comes to cheery decor, of course it will be colorful and playful. I love the decor of this apartment so much. The apartment-studio is located in Nimes, France. The location is perfect, the interior is superb, no question asked. It belongs to tow artists, Myriam and Dominique in which they chose an interior design for their apartment studio that is far from modern and hectic theme.
